Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek
The Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek is a remarkable journey that captures the natural beauty of both the Rolwaling Valley and the Khumbu region of Nepal. The trek presents a unique combination of the peaceful, untouched trails of the Rolwaling region and the lively trekking routes of the Khumbu Valley. Due to steep ascents, technical sections, and occasional rock climbing, this trek requires endurance and patience, making it a truly adventurous Himalayan experience.
Rolwaling Valley is one of Nepal’s hidden gorges, nestled between dramatic and picturesque mountain ranges. From Na Gaon, the trail ascends to Tsho Rolpa Lake at 4,540 meters, the largest glacial lake in Nepal.
Continuing across icy and slippery glaciers, the route leads to the Tashi Lapcha Pass at 5,755 meters, which forms a natural boundary between the Rolwaling and Khumbu regions, as well as between the Gaurishankar Conservation Area and Sagarmatha National Park. After crossing the pass, the trail joins the popular trekking routes of the Khumbu region, known for its vibrant atmosphere and international visitors. The descent offers spectacular views of Mount Everest at 8,848 meters, Cho Oyu at 8,201 meters and several other iconic Himalayan peaks. The trek then passes through Thame and the lively Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar before reaching Lukla, from where a flight returns to Kathmandu.
The Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek provides an exceptional opportunity to experience contrasting Himalayan lifestyles, transitioning from a remote and isolated valley to one of the most well-known trekking regions in the world.
