The Langtang Lirung Expedition is one of the most renowned Himalayan adventures in Nepal. Located in the central northern region of the country, near the Tibet border and ahead of Langtang Village, Mount Langtang Lirung rises to 7,234 meters, offering breathtaking views of the Langtang range.

The first successful ascent of Mount Langtang Lirung was made by a British team in 1973. During this expedition, acclimatization climbs were successfully conducted on nearby peaks such as Tserku Ri, Yala Peak, Urkin Ma, and Naya Kanga. In 1973, two climbing groups attempted the summit via the South East Ridge, marking a significant milestone in the history of this mountain.

Several climbing routes are accessible from Kyanjing Gompa in Langtang Valley. The classical expedition trek begins at Shyabru Besi (1,466m.), following a scenic route through Lama Hotel, Langtang Village, and finally reaching Kyanjing Gompa (3,949m.). Trekkers usually spend a couple of days in Kyanjing for acclimatization before moving toward the base camp.

The expedition itself starts at Shyabru Besi after a 7–8 hour drive from Kathmandu. Everest View Treks & Expedition guides lead climbers through the beautiful valleys of Bamboo, Lama Hotel, and Langtang Village, eventually reaching Langtang Lirung Base Camp.

Climbing Langtang Lirung requires good physical fitness and mountaineering experience. The best seasons for the expedition are autumn and spring, offering ideal weather conditions for climbers and trekkers. Since opening for mountaineering, numerous adventure seekers have successfully reached the summit, guided safely by professional EVT climbing experts.

Langtang Lirung promises not only a challenging climb but also unforgettable views and an enriching Himalayan experience.
