Itinerary
Arrival in Kathmandu
Altitude: 1,350 m / 4,428 ft
Welcome to Kathmandu, the capital and cultural heart of Nepal! Upon your arrival, you will receive a warm welcome and a smooth transfer to your hotel. After your long flight, take some time to rest and rejuvenate. Later, you may explore Thamel, the vibrant hub of Kathmandu. Includes Bed and Breakfast (B/B).
Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and Trek to Phakding
Altitude: 2,800 m / 9,184 ft (Lukla) & 2,652 m / 8,698 ft (Phakding)
After a short morning flight to Lukla, you will meet your guide and porter. Begin your trek with an easy walk through Chaurikharka village, followed by a descent towards Dudhkoshi Ghat (2,530 m / 8,300 ft). The trail then follows the banks of the Dudhkoshi River until you reach Phakding (2,652 m / 8,700 ft), where you will stay overnight to acclimatize. Enjoy some free time in Phakding, a popular stopping point for trekkers.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Altitude: 3,440 m / 11,283 ft
Walking Distance: 10–12 km (5–6 hours)
After breakfast in Phakding, we will begin the trek to Namche Bazaar, the largest Sherpa village in Nepal. The trail initially crosses the Dudhkoshi River via a long suspension bridge and continues through a scenic pine forest to Monjo, approximately two hours away. Shortly thereafter, we will reach the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park for a brief permit check, followed by a descent to the Dudh Kosi River, where you can observe traditional Mani stones along the way, en route to Jorsale.
Lunch will be served in Jorsale, after which the trail ascends toward Namche Bazaar. Along the riverbank, you will cross two suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. The uphill climb to Namche is challenging, but upon arrival, you will be rewarded with your first breathtaking view of Mount Everest.

Namche Bazaar: Rest and Acclimatization Day
Altitude: 3,440 m / 11,283 ft
Today is a well-deserved rest day, allowing your body to acclimatize to the high altitude. For those interested, there is an optional two-hour hike to Everest View Point, an uphill walk that aids in acclimatization while offering spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.
Alternatively, you may spend the day exploring Namche Bazaar. Visit the Sherpa Museum to gain insight into Sherpa culture and the region’s mountaineering history. If your visit falls on a Saturday, you can experience the Hatt Bazaar, a lively local market offering a glimpse into daily life and trading traditions. Namche Bazaar also serves as a major shopping hub, with a wide array of trekking and mountaineering gear available.

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche
Altitude: 3,870 m / 12,684 ft
Walking Distance: 10 km (6 hours)
After breakfast in Namche Bazaar, we set out for another day of trekking towards Everest Base Camp. Today’s journey offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas, including Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kwangde truly sights not to be missed.
The trail descends briefly to the riverside before crossing the river and ascending through a forested pass. Prepare for a continuous uphill trek, alternating between gradual inclines and steeper sections. Our destination, Tengboche, is renowned as one of the most picturesque locations in the Everest region, with legendary views of Ama Dablam. Upon arrival, we will visit the Tengboche Monastery, one of the largest in the Khumbu region. Here, you can enjoy a guided tour of the monastery grounds and experience chanting and prayer with the resident Buddhist monks, offering nourishment for the spirit.

Tengboche to Dingboche
Altitude: 4,400 m / 14,435 ft
Walking Distance: 11 km (6 hours)
Today’s trek begins with a walk through the rhododendron forest to Deboche, followed by a crossing of the Imja Khola River via a bridge. The trail continues along the valley wall and then traverses the plains to Pangboche village, the largest Sherpa settlement in the region. This provides an excellent opportunity to observe a traditional Sherpa village and enjoy lunch with the locals. Adventurous trekkers may also take a short hike to visit the Pangboche Monastery, one of the oldest in the area.
The afternoon trek is more challenging as the landscape transitions to dry, desolate mountains while we make our way to Dingboche.

Dingboche: Rest and Acclimatization Day
Altitude: 4,400 m / 14,435 ft
Today is a well-deserved rest day, providing an opportunity to recover before the final stages of our trek. You may spend the day exploring Dingboche and the surrounding valleys of Chhukung and Imja. The Imja Valley connects to Island Peak, the high passes of Amphu Laptsa, and Makalu Barun National Park, offering spectacular views for those who choose the optional trek.
While the optional excursions are rewarding, the primary focus today is on rest and acclimatization to prepare your body for the penultimate day of ascent tomorrow.

Dingboche to Lobuche
Altitude: 4,900 m / 16,076 ft
Walking Distance: 11–12 km (6–7 hours)
Today’s trek takes us over rugged mountain terrain to Lobuche, a small settlement offering stunning views of Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Pumari, and Nuptse. As we are now nearly three miles above sea level, evenings can be quite cold, so be prepared for a chilly night.

Lobuche to Gorakshep and Everest Base Camp
Altitude: 5,180 m / 16,994 ft (Gorakshep) & 5,364 m / 17,598 ft (Everest Base Camp)
Walking Distance: 15 km (6–8 hours)
The day begins with a relatively easy trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep. From there, the trail to Everest Base Camp becomes more challenging, traversing rocky terrain and moraine, an accumulation of unconsolidated glacial debris. Along the way, we will approach the renowned Khumbu Glacier and Icefall on the slopes of Everest.
At Everest Base Camp, you will have the unique opportunity, especially during the spring climbing season, to meet climbers attempting to summit the world’s highest peak. Capture the unforgettable scenery with your cameras as you take in the breathtaking Himalayan vistas.

Kalapathar and Return to Dingboche
Altitude: 5,545 m / 18,192 ft (Kalapathar) & 4,330 m / 14,200 ft (Dingboche)
The day begins with a climb to Kalapathar, offering some of the most spectacular panoramic views of the Himalayas. After enjoying the breathtaking scenery and capturing memorable photographs, we will descend back to Dingboche, where our trek diverges from the main Everest Base Camp route.

Trek to Chhukung
Altitude: 4,770 m / 15,640 ft
Walking Distance: 3–4 hours
Today’s trek begins in the late morning with a relatively easy 3–4 hour walk to Chhukung. Upon arrival, you will have the day to rest and prepare for the upcoming Island Peak Base Camp trek. This is also an opportunity to check your personal gear or, if needed, rent climbing equipment available in Chhukung.

Trek to Island Peak Base Camp
The trek from Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp is relatively easy and takes approximately 3–4 hours. The trail includes glacier walking, zigzag paths, and some rocky terrain. Upon arrival, the base camp can be slightly windy, so a sheltered spot in a corner is chosen for setting up camp. During the month of October, water is generally available at the base camp.

Rest Day at Base Camp – Preparation for Climbing
Today is a rest and preparation day at Island Peak Base Camp. With guidance from Everest View Treks and Expedition climbing guides, you will receive short training sessions on essential climbing techniques, including rope fixing and belaying, in preparation for the Island Peak ascent.

Summit Island Peak (6,189 m) and Return to Base Camp
Today is the highlight of the expedition! We start early, before dawn, with headlamps to begin the ascent along the rocky trail. As the sun rises over the Himalayan peaks, enjoy breathtaking views across the glacier, preparing for the final, challenging climb.
The trek continues across a plateau of pristine snow before reaching the steep and demanding headwall. This is where your climbing skills are put to the test. The scramble to the summit is rigorous, but the sense of achievement upon reaching the top is unparalleled. After celebrating this remarkable accomplishment, we carefully descend back to Island Peak Base Camp.

Trek to Dingboche
Altitude: 4,310 m / 14,140 ft
Walking Distance: 5–6 hours
Today’s trek is a relatively short descent from Island Peak Base Camp to Dingboche Village, taking approximately 4–5 hours. The trail gradually descends, allowing for a comfortable pace, and upon arrival, you can rest and relax after the climb.

Dingboche to Namche Bazaar
Altitude: 3,440 m / 11,283 ft
Today we retrace our ascent route as we descend the mountain toward Namche Bazaar. Along the way, you will once again experience the fascinating Sherpa culture, including a glimpse of yak-herding practices. Although the trail is mainly downhill, there is a brief uphill section that takes about an hour. We will reach Namche by late afternoon, allowing time to rest and prepare for the penultimate day of our trek.

Namche to Phakding and Lukla
Altitude: 2,800 m / 9,184 ft
After breakfast, we begin the trek toward the Hillary Suspension Bridge, passing through several local villages along the way. Upon arrival in Lukla, you will enjoy your final evening on the mountain with a comfortable stay at a proper hotel. Traditionally, this evening is celebrated with your trekking crew in recognition of your remarkable achievement. Thanks to determination and teamwork, you have accomplished a challenging journey that few undertake. This last night in the mountains can be both joyous and bittersweet.

Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu
In the morning, you will take a short flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu, bringing your Himalayan journey full circle. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for some well-deserved rest and personal reflection after an extraordinary trek. In the evening, we will gather for a farewell dinner at one of Kathmandu’s finest Nepalese restaurants, providing an opportunity to share your experiences and memories from the expedition.

Today marks the conclusion of your journey in Nepal as you bid farewell to the majestic Himalayas. Approximately three hours before your scheduled flight, a representative from Everest View Treks will transfer you to the airport. On your way home, you will have ample time to reflect on your adventure and begin planning your next journey in the beautiful country of Nepal.
