Important Note:
Due to heavy traffic at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, most flights to Lukla now operate from Ramechhap Airport (Manthali), which is approximately a five-hour drive from Kathmandu. The flight to Lukla is usually booked for the following morning, so it is recommended to rest early the night before. Departure from Kathmandu will be around 2:00 AM to catch the early morning flight from Ramechhap.
Please Note: Flights to Lukla are often delayed due to weather conditions. It is advisable to keep two to three buffer days in your schedule to accommodate potential delays.
Itinerary
Arrival in Kathmandu (1,275m)
Welcome to Nepal! After you land at Tribhuvan International Airport, you’ll be greeted by our friendly representative holding the Everest View Treks sign. From here, you’ll be transferred to your comfortable hotel in Kathmandu—where you can rest and absorb the buzz of this historic city. Take some time to stroll around, enjoy the fresh mountain air, or simply relax and prepare yourself mentally for the adventure ahead.
Drive for about four to five hours to Ramechhap, fly to Lukla, and then trek to Phakding
Drive about 4–5 hours from Kathmandu to Ramechhap, enjoying scenic countryside views. Take a thrilling flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region, with breathtaking Himalayan panoramas. Meet your trekking team in Lukla and start the gentle trek along the Dudh Koshi River toward Phakding. Cross suspension bridges and small villages as you adjust to the higher altitude. Overnight at a guesthouse in Phakding with meals included.
Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)
Today’s trek takes you steadily uphill through rhododendron and pine forests, bringing you deeper into Sherpa country. You’ll pass the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, where permits are checked, and the real Himalayan wilderness begins. The trail winds through bustling Sherpa villages and across rivers via iconic suspension bridges. As you approach Namche Bazaar, the vibrant “capital” of the Khumbu region, majestic peaks like Everest and Lhotse start to peek through the horizon, rewarding your efforts with unforgettable mountain views.
Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar
Altitude adjustment is vital here, and Namche’s lively market town provides the perfect setting to relax and explore. Take a leisurely walk to the Everest View Hotel or visit the Sherpa Culture Museum for fascinating insights into the region’s heritage and mountaineering history. Soak in the panoramic vistas and enjoy the bustling local life before you push further into the mountains.
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Dole (4,090m)
Leaving Namche behind, you’ll climb steadily through picturesque rhododendron forests, passing through the village of Khumjung. Crossing the Mong La Pass rewards you with sweeping views of iconic peaks such as Ama Dablam, Kangtega, and Thamserku. The day’s trek immerses you in alpine beauty and Sherpa culture as you reach Dole, a quiet village nestled on a sunny slope.
Trek from Dole to Machhermo (4,410m)
Continuing your ascent, the trail offers spectacular views of Cho Oyu and the surrounding peaks. Passing the small settlement of Luza, you’ll walk along hillsides overlooking the roaring Dudh Koshi River. The mountain air grows thinner, but the serenity and grandeur of the landscape provide plenty of motivation as you settle in for the night at Machhermo.
Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo (4,750m)
Today’s trek begins with a climb up a ridge that reveals stunning views down the valley and across to Thamserku and Cho Oyu. You’ll pass Longponga Lake and reach the charming stone-built village of Gokyo, perched beside the shimmering turquoise waters of Dudh Pokhari lake. This peaceful village, framed by towering Himalayan giants, feels like a hidden sanctuary where nature’s calm reigns supreme.
Acclimatization and Gokyo Ri Summit (5,483m)
A day to take in the breathtaking beauty of Gokyo Valley. The highlight is the climb to Gokyo Ri’s summit, where a 360-degree panorama unfolds, showcasing Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and more. The shimmering lakes below and the towering snow-capped peaks above create a scene of unmatched tranquility and grandeur. Return to Gokyo village to rest and absorb the awe-inspiring views.
Trek from Gokyo to Thangnak (4,700m)
Leaving Gokyo, you’ll trek alongside the massive Ngozumpa Glacier, one of the longest glaciers in the Himalayas. The path involves some gentle ups and downs but no major altitude gain, allowing you to enjoy the impressive glacial scenery. Thangnak, your destination, is a serene village perfectly positioned as a gateway to the challenging Cho La Pass ahead.
Crossing Cho La Pass (5,420m) to Dzongla (4,830m)
This will be one of the most demanding yet rewarding days of the trek. The ascent to Cho La Pass involves navigating rocky terrain and icy patches, requiring careful footing and concentration. Upon reaching the summit adorned with fluttering prayer flags, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of Ama Dablam, Cholatse, and the surrounding peaks. After descending the pass, arrive at Dzongla, a tranquil settlement that feels like a peaceful mountain refuge.
Trek from Dzongla to Lobuche (4,940m)
Descending from Dzongla, you’ll cross grassy trails and riverbeds while enjoying views of iconic peaks like Ama Dablam and Kangtega. The trail winds along a ridge leading to Lobuche, a small but lively village that serves as a base camp for climbers and trekkers alike.
Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364m) and Return to Gorak Shep (5,164m)
Today you reach the pinnacle of your journey: Everest Base Camp. The trek takes you through the Khumbu Glacier’s lateral moraine, passing climbers’ memorials and the colorful tents of mountaineering expeditions. While Everest itself is not visible from the base camp, the surrounding peaks—Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori—offer an awe-inspiring backdrop. After soaking in the atmosphere, descend to Gorak Shep for your overnight stay. For those with energy, a sunset hike to Kala Patthar provides arguably the best views of Everest’s summit bathed in golden light.
Early Morning Kala Patthar (5,545m) and Trek to Dingboche (4,350m)
Rise early for a challenging but unforgettable ascent to Kala Patthar, where sunrise reveals panoramic Himalayan vistas including Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse. The cold and darkness of the early morning add to the sense of adventure. After descending back to Gorak Shep for breakfast, you’ll continue trekking down to the welcoming village of Dingboche, where you can rest and recuperate.
Trek from Dingboche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)
Begin your descent retracing the path through Sherpa villages and pine forests. The trail is mostly downhill with some short climbs, giving your legs a good workout as you return to Namche Bazaar. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and prepare for the final stretch.
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,800m)
Your last day on the trail takes you through picturesque villages and across the iconic Hillary Suspension Bridge. Arrive in Lukla, where you’ll celebrate your achievement with your trekking crew and spend the night in a comfortable lodge, savoring the memories of your journey.
Fly from Lukla to Ramechhap, then drive back to Kathmandu
Take a scenic flight from Lukla back to Ramechhap, enjoying one last glimpse of the majestic Himalayan peaks. From Ramechhap, embark on a 4–5 hour drive through the beautiful countryside, returning to Kathmandu. Arrive at your hotel to rest and reflect on the unforgettable trek.
Departure from Kathmandu
After breakfast, a private vehicle will transfer you from the hotel to the airport for your international flight home.

- Professional trekking leader fluent in English, supported by assistant guides (1 assistant guide per 4 trekkers) and Sherpa porters (1 porter per 2 trekkers), with all wages, insurance, equipment, food, and accommodation covered
