Special Information

  • Unique Local Insights : Everest Base Camp is iconic, but along the way, there are lesser-known gems that offer breathtaking views and serenity. For example, while Kala Patthar is a popular spot for an Everest sunrise, there are hidden viewpoints near Pheriche that offer equally stunning perspectives of Everest, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam without the crowds. Another secret: Take a short detour near Thyangboche to catch views of Everest framed beautifully between the ridges.
  • Cultural Etiquette : As you trek through Sherpa villages, it’s important to be respectful of local customs. Always walk clockwise around mani walls and stupas as a sign of respect. If you visit monasteries, remove your shoes and refrain from taking photos unless given permission. The Sherpa people deeply respect their Buddhist traditions, and showing appreciation for their culture enriches your trekking experience.
  • Environmental Responsibility : The Everest region is fragile, and responsible trekking is essential. Ensure you carry reusable water bottles, as plastic waste management is a challenge at high altitudes. Bring personal trash back down to Namche for proper disposal. As a trekking company, we promote “Leave No Trace” principles to protect this UNESCO-listed environment for future generations.
  • Health Tips Beyond Acclimatization : While acclimatization is crucial, maintaining hydration is just as important. Bring oral rehydration salts and make sure to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, which is common in the dry, high-altitude climate. Additionally, local foods like dal bhat are excellent for energy and nutrition, keeping you fueled for long trekking days. Wear strong sunscreen and lip balm with SPF to protect against the high-altitude sun, which is much harsher than at lower elevations.
  • Communication and Connectivity : While trekking in remote areas, communication can be limited. Most lodges along the route offer Wi-Fi, but the connection can be slow and unreliable. A good alternative is to buy a local SIM card with 3G service (available in Namche Bazaar). Charging stations are available in most tea houses, but it’s advisable to bring your own power bank for backup.
  • Weather Variability and Preparation : Weather in the Himalayas can change rapidly, especially at high altitudes. Be prepared for all types of conditions, including bright sunshine, snow, and strong winds, even in the same day. In spring and autumn, daytime temperatures can be warm, but evenings and mornings are chilly. Always pack layers, including a waterproof jacket and down coat for warmth.
  • Insurance Recommendations :We strongly advise comprehensive travel insurance that includes high-altitude trekking (above 5,000m) and emergency evacuation by helicopter. Many trekkers overlook this, but in case of severe altitude sickness or injury, emergency evacuation is the only safe option. Companies like World Nomads and Global Rescue offer policies specifically designed for trekking in Nepal.
  • Local Legends and Myths : The Sherpa people have many fascinating legends surrounding Everest and the Himalayas. One well-known myth is about the Yeti, or the "Abominable Snowman," said to roam the upper slopes of Everest. While sightings are rare and unproven, the Yeti remains a part of local folklore, adding a sense of mystique to the trek.
  • Sustainability and Community Impact : By trekking with us, you are supporting local communities and contributing to the sustainable development of the Everest region. We prioritize hiring local guides and porters, providing fair wages, and supporting community projects such as schools and hospitals. Our commitment is to responsible tourism that benefits both the environment and local people.
  • Post-Trek Recovery : After the physical demands of the trek, it's important to focus on recovery. Kathmandu offers a range of relaxation spots where you can unwind after your adventure. Treat yourself to a traditional Nepali massage or enjoy yoga sessions specifically designed to help trekkers stretch out tired muscles. We recommend places like the Yoga & Spa in Thamel for a perfect recovery experience.

Itinerary

Day 1

 Arrive in Kathmandu

Altitude: 1,350 m

Accommodation: 3 star Category  Hotel

Welcome to Nepal — the land of the majestic Himalayas, rich biodiversity, and vibrant culture. Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu), our representative will greet you and transfer you to your pre-booked hotel.

After checking in, take some time to rest and freshen up. In the evening, you will attend a briefing session where you will receive important information about your upcoming trek, including the itinerary, safety guidelines, and packing tips. This is also a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the journey ahead.

Following the briefing, you are free to explore the lively streets of Kathmandu, enjoy a local meal, or purchase any last-minute trekking gear or supplies you might need.

Important Note:

Owing to heavy flight congestion at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the majority of flights bound for Lukla are currently being operated from Ramechhap (Manthali) Airport, which is situated about five hours’ drive from Kathmandu.

Your Lukla flight is planned for the next morning, requiring an early departure from Kathmandu at around 2:00 AM to reach Ramechhap in time for check-in and boarding. It is highly recommended that you get sufficient rest tonight to ensure an easy and comfortable start to your journey tomorrow

Day 2

Drive from Kathmandu to Ramechhap, Fly to Lukla & Trek to Phakding

Altitude:

Lukla: 2,800 m / 9,200 ft.

Phakding: 2,600 m / 8,500 ft.

Trekking Distance: 7 km | 4–5 hours

Accommodation: Teahouse

Your Himalayan adventure truly begins today! The day starts early, as you leave Kathmandu around 2:00 AM for a scenic drive to Ramechhap Airport — a journey that takes roughly five hours through peaceful hills and rural Nepali landscapes. From Ramechhap, you’ll board a short, thrilling flight to Lukla, known as one of the most exciting airports in the world. During this 18-minute journey, keep your camera ready — the sweeping aerial views of snow-capped Himalayan giants are simply unforgettable.

Once you land in Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region, the real magic begins. You’ll set off on your first trek, following a gentle downhill path that meanders through charming Sherpa villages, dense forests of rhododendron and pine, and across suspension bridges adorned with fluttering prayer flags. The mountain air feels crisp, and every turn reveals a new glimpse of the stunning surroundings.

As you pass through Cheplung village, you’ll get your first view of Mt. Khumbila, a sacred peak believed to be the protector of the Khumbu region. Along the trail, you’ll notice intricately carved Mani stones bearing ancient Buddhist prayers — silent reminders of the region’s deep spiritual roots.

The walk to Phakding is a pleasant and easy introduction to trekking in the Everest region, with gentle climbs and descents that help you find your pace. You’ll pass through small settlements like Ghat, where the sound of the Dudh Koshi River accompanies your steps.

By late afternoon, you’ll reach Phakding, a lovely riverside village that offers a peaceful atmosphere and cozy teahouses. After checking in, relax with a warm meal and soak in the sounds of nature. This first day’s trek is the perfect way to ease into the rhythm of the mountains and prepare for the days of adventure that lie ahead.

Day 3

Along the way, you’ll cross several suspension bridges spanning the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi Rivers, with the Dudh Koshi often regarded as the lifeline of Khumbu.

The trek begins with an easy stretch, soon leading to the Swiss Suspension Bridge over the Dudh Koshi — one of the most iconic and photogenic spots on the trail. From here, the path continues with gentle ups and downs, guiding you to the second suspension bridge over the Bhote Koshi River, a lively crossing where trekkers and porters converge.

From this point, a moderate climb takes you to Monjo, a charming village nestled beneath Thamserku Peak. Monjo serves as a common resting point and provides a window into Sherpa life, with traditional watermills grinding barley and local homes dotting the landscape. Along the way, you will cross the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge, another picture-perfect landmark often captured in Everest trekking photos.

The trail then ascends steadily toward the Everest Mid-Point, where on a clear day, you may catch your first glimpses of Mount Everest in the distance. Continuing along the banks of the Dudh Koshi, you enter Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its stunning Himalayan vistas and unique wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for rare species such as the elusive snow leopard or the red panda, and take in the cultural richness of the scattered Sherpa settlements along the way.

From the park’s boundary, the path gradually climbs into Namche Bazaar, the vibrant heart of the Khumbu region. Here, centuries of trade and culture have shaped a bustling town where trekkers mingle with local Sherpa and traders. Tonight, you’ll rest at a comfortable teahouse, savor a warm meal, and soak in the magical atmosphere, all while preparing for the higher-altitude adventures that lie ahead.

By the evening, return to your teahouse, enjoy a warm meal, and rest well, ready for the journey to higher elevations tomorrow

Here, you’ll experience the spiritual heart of the Everest region, with panoramic views of snow-capped mountains creating an unforgettable backdrop. The monastery is a place of reverence, prayer, and tranquility, and often hosts chanting ceremonies performed by the resident monks. After exploring the monastery and its surroundings, you’ll settle into a teahouse, enjoy a warm meal, and watch the sun set behind the majestic peaks — a perfect Himalayan evening.

Altitude: Dingboche – 4,410 m / 14,470 ft

Trekking Distance: 11 km | 5–6 hours

Accommodation: Teahouse

You’ll pass through the villages of Khumjung and Pangboche, offering glimpses of traditional Sherpa life, ancient Mani walls, and prayer flags fluttering in the wind. Pangboche Monastery, the oldest in the region, provides another cultural highlight and a chance to experience local spirituality.

The final stretch to Dingboche takes you through an open valley, with dramatic mountain vistas on all sides. Dingboche is a peaceful village known for its stone houses and friendly locals, and it serves as an important acclimatization stop before heading to higher elevations. Along the way, you’ll pass the memorials of climbers who have attempted Everest, a sobering reminder of the region’s grandeur and challenges. The trail offers breathtaking vistas of peaks like Pumori, Lingtren, and Khumbutse, which dominate the skyline.

Lobuche, a small hamlet at the base of the Khumbu Glacier, serves as your overnight stop. Here, the teahouses are cozy and simple, providing warmth and meals that prepare you for the even higher altitudes ahead. The dramatic sunset behind the mountains is unforgettable, setting the tone for the final ascent to Everest Base Camp.

FAQs

The best time to trek to Everest base camp are autumn (Mid-September to November) and spring (March to early June). This trek is possible year-round, and we can organize it when it suits your schedule. However, we generally suggest doing this trek in the favorable seasons and keep away from rainstorm season (July and August). In cold months of January and February, the temperature can be a little harsh in the mountains. However, some prefer to travel during these months as it is less crowded given that you are well prepared with appropriate winter wear and other gears.

Due to its tendency to be localized, the weather in the Everest region is challenging to forecast. You could see rain, fog, cold, or hot and sunny weather while trekking. It is best to be equipped to handle various weather situations. In the Everest region, nighttime temperatures are significantly lower than midday temperatures. In less than a day, the temperature can change from a high of 25°C (77°F) to a low of – 20°C (-4°F). The weather and temperature ranges are typically predictable based on the month and season, even though it might be challenging to predict what each day in the mountains will bring.Spring – March/April/May/JuneDespite being the busiest season, spring is perhaps the best time to visit the Everest region. Activities assisting the expedition teams take place in Everest Base Camp. The many varieties of blossoming trees should be visible, and the sky should be clear with stunning vistas. During springtime, the average temperature is 20°C (68°F), with a high of 25°C (77°F) during clear days and a low of – 15°C (5°F) overnight above 4000 meters.Monsoon season – July/August through Mid-SeptemberSince it rains heavily at elevations below 3500 meters, this season isn’t exactly ideal for travel in the Everest region. While it can occasionally be dry in areas above 4000 meters, it frequently rains so therefore not many people travel during this season. Trekking during the monsoon season has some advantages, such as a greater possibility of seeing waterfalls and the best opportunity to escape crowds. During the monsoon, the average temperature is 22°C (71.6°F), with a high of 30°C (86°F) during clear days and a low of- 5°C (23°F) overnight above 4000 meters.Autumn – End of September/October/NovemberIn the Everest region, autumn is equally as busy as spring. It is one of the best times to go, too. While the plants and trees are not in bloom, the sky is often clear, offering breathtaking vistas from almost every viewpoint. The average temperature in autumn is 17°C (62.6°F), with a high of 20°C (68°F) during clear days and a low of – 15°C (5°F) overnight above 4000 meters.Winter – December/January/FebruaryDue to fewer tourists, some people like winter travel. Even while the views are still beautiful, it can be cloudy, thus adding extra days is highly advised during this time. The average temperature is 10°C (50°F), with a high of 17°C (62.6°F) during clear days and a low of – 20°C (- 4°F) overnight above 4000 meters. The teahouses provide extra blankets for warmth at night.

The temperature rating of the sleeping bags that we rent to trekkers is about -10°C (14°F). Also, our guides can obtain extra blankets if needed at the teahouses.

Yes, it’s possible to hike to Kala Patthar before reaching Everest Base Camp to witness stunning sunsets. However, due to unpredictable mountain evening weather, the safer approach is to trek to Everest Base Camp first and then ascend to Kala Patthar early the following morning.

Typically, USD 15 to 20 per person per day will be sufficient. This is to purchase water, tea/espresso, snacks, and hot showers in the mountains and for lunch or dinner in Kathmandu. Additionally, if you want to buy souvenirs or native Nepali goods, you can bring extra cash with you.

Nepalese Rupees cash is preferred to a credit card while trekking in the mountain region. Exchanging your cash into Nepali Rupees in Kathmandu before the beginning of the trek is ideal. This can be accomplished at the airport, at banks, or at your hotel. Please note the hotels will exchange up to about USD 100 for each transaction only. There are ATMs up to Namche Bazaar but can be unreliable. The currency exchange rate is better in Kathmandu.
